The Sycamore Community Fund is being developed to provide additional support for individuals facing complex situations connected to work, employment and Access to Work, where existing routes of help may not be sufficient on their own.
It is also intended to strengthen the wider community around this work – including disabled individuals, practitioners, suppliers, charities and organisations – by improving access to practical information, shared knowledge and trusted support.
The fund is intended to support individuals who may not otherwise be able to access or afford the help they need.
This fund is not live yet.
If you are interested in supporting it, or you think you may wish to apply for support in future, please email to register your interest.
Over time, I have seen that some people require more support than is currently easy to access.
This may include help to understand available options, support to manage complex situations, access to funded services, or practical assistance at key points. It may also involve a need for clearer information, stronger shared knowledge and more consistent guidance across the wider community supporting disabled people in work.
The Sycamore Community Fund is being developed to respond to these needs in a practical, measured and community-focused way.
Its purpose is to provide meaningful support to individuals while also contributing to the wider network of professionals, organisations and suppliers working in this space.
The fund is being designed around three main areas of support.
This may include individualised support for people dealing with complex situations related to work, employment and Access to Work, and who may not otherwise be able to access appropriate help.
Support may include:
● advice and guidance
● casework support in more complex situations
● funded services where these would make a meaningful difference
● practical support tailored to individual circumstances
The fund will also support the wider community through:
● webinars and events
● group support spaces
● practical information-sharing
● resources to support understanding of complex issues connected to work and Access to Work
This is intended to ensure that useful and relevant knowledge is accessible to those who need it.
A further aim of the fund is to support work that strengthens shared understanding across the wider Access to Work community.
This may include:
● research and information gathering
● Freedom of Information requests
● surveys and community insight work
● bringing together professional knowledge and lived experience
● developing shared understanding across practitioners, suppliers, charities and organisations
Organisations may be able to contribute by providing:
If you would like to offer practical support, please get in touch by email.
In future, there will be an option to pledge financial support to the fund.
This is currently in development. If this is something you or your organisation may be interested in, please get in touch to register your interest.
Any financial support received through the fund will be used to support its stated aims: providing practical help, trusted guidance, funded services, community education and shared knowledge.
This may include funding support for individuals, covering the cost of services delivered through the fund, and supporting wider knowledge-building work that benefits the Access to Work community.
All support is allocated based on individual need and in line with the purpose of the fund.
The fund is intended to be supported by individuals and organisations who wish to contribute to practical, community-focused work in this area.
Over time, there may be opportunities to recognise supporters and sponsors in appropriate ways, including acknowledgement on the website or within related materials. Any such arrangements will be developed carefully to reflect the professional and community-led nature of the fund.
Trust and transparency are central to the development of the Sycamore Community Fund.
